I’d like to think my face is worth a few thousand dollars. At least to me it is– but maybe it’s also worth that to upcoming businesses. Why, you say?
The concept of advertising on the human body isn’t new, this picture is slightly dated, but I feel like I need to get my two cents in on this. It makes me feel a little uncomfortable that people sell their bodies to make money (in more ways than one). According to the guy shown above’s website (humanadspace.com) it’s only a temporary tattoo, but I still can’t help but feel a little nauseous when I see something like that. But, should I? How different is advertising on your skin compared to advertising a business on the front of your t-shirt? It’s almost like having a logo on a baseball cap. Except down a little bit…and on your face.
I’d like to know how this opportunity even arises. I’ve never been asked to advertise on myself– why aren’t homeless people doing this if it’s easy cash, all you have to do is give up a limb or your face. This could solve world hunger! Or, destroy humanity. Either, or.
The amount of money to be made off advertising on your skin can be anywhere between $100 to 5000 big bucks. And that, my friends, can buy you a whack load of Kraft Dinner (poor college students unite!) But, would it really work? Would people respond well to this type of advertising? Now that’s another hard question. It depends on several other variables (what is the business, does it make sense for them to advertise on a person’s body, location, person being advertised on etc.).
So, at the end of the day, what do you think– is human advertising a good idea? Would you ever sell a body part to make some extra bucks?
