Oh, wow, thanks for the ask. <3 I'll answer for Who Wander in the Mire, Love and Joy Come to You on this post. May answer something for the other fics on another post. If you end up having a specific question you wanted answered on any of those ones, let me know. 2. How did you come up with the idea?

A thought popped into my head about Kara and Lena working together on something small during the holidays. Let them have a little adventure, Supergirl and Lena working together, helping the world. As it goes with me, I started to write and it was all going along when something unexpected happened. The scene where we meet Khir happened. For the while I stopped writing because I felt that addition did not fit in with the expectations of a 'light' holiday fic. I kept it all to myself when one day @weinzapfel asked me how the fic was going, as i was supposed to finish it for the Christmas, the year the series ended.

She kindly listened to me explain why I was stuck and I felt the story was no longer a proper holiday one. She was quiet and then said, "why not just keep writing it. See what happens, maybe it will work."

It took me a bit to process that, but then I just kept writing. And slowly the story became what it was. Much of it poured out of me.

About halfway through drafting, I realized it was a sequel to Your Hand Touching Mine this is how Galaxies Collide that somehow my brain decided to write Supergirl and Lena having an adventure, leading up to their first kiss.

I guess the short answer is that the story grew in the telling.

26. Share your favorite detail

I loved writing the moment where Kara is so angry in the woods that her breath does not show in the air because her anger made her build up the freeze breath in her system.

Bonus detail: I ended up writing Kara connecting to the Aurora and the northern landscape naturally, from my own head. I did not realize when I wrote it that this was something that occurred in some of the comics and one of the cartoons.

13. Did you write any of the fic by hand? If yes, which parts? Do you find you write differently by hand vs typing?

I actually wrote this entire fic by hand on a big notepad. Transcribing it to a word document some things changed, as the handwritten one was a very raw draft. I also wrote this one in a frenzy the day after the series ended, it felt like a fever dream.

I think my writing can be more chaotic by hand. I have all the space on the pages to scribble additions in the margins, etc. Sort of more free form thought/idea formation. With typing I have to jump back to the spot I want to add something and type it in. Those are similar but different, for me, in the sense when hand writing I can do it all more swiftly.

17. Talk about the fic’s ending. Why did you end it where you did?

I remember being worried about how I ended this fic. The fandom was already (understandably) mad there was no kiss in the series finale and I was finishing writing this during the whole Supercorp Kissed trend some friends of mine created.

So I changed what I had and added a kiss, but then I went back to what I had written. It just felt, to me, that Kara and Lena still had so much to talk through that they were not ready for that big sweeping romantic first kiss yet.

I suppose part of that must have stayed with me because I would later write Who Wander in the Mire, Love and Joy Come to You

30. Would you ever return to the story’s universe and write more?

I actually have had another idea for this universe for a long, long time. I haven't gotten around to writing it because, at the time, I originally posted Who Wander in the Mire, it just kinda sank into the dark. But I have been thinking about this universe once again - and I want to write that other idea.

🍐 Is there anything in canon that you absolutely hate and love to fix in fics? A wrong choice made, a fuck-up in characterization, a misunderstanding never cleared up, a conversation never shown onscreen, etc…

I feel I could write an entire novel in response to this, but the short answer is the series stopped caring about

Kara

stopped writing her.

So, for me, I think I try to write her with the depth and exploration she always deserved in

HER

own show.

17. Past or present tense? Why?

I've honestly never consciously thought about it when writing. Think I tend to write in past tense. Probably down to all the novels I read.

That said, I'll read in either tense, I just love stories.

23. Dialogue or description? Why is the other one so hard?

I find both challenging, but I think my dialogue is weaker than my description. I suspect because I am not the best talker in real life. I am very internal and not witty with words. So dialogue is something I have been trying to improve in my writing.

26. What would you describe as OOC?

Hmmm, not sure. I think it is very instinctual for me when I am reading a story. Just a sense if it seems OOC.

30. Describe a fic that almost happened, but then it didn't.

I had an idea once to play with the Mxy tapes episode, expand it, make it more complex. But part of my brain could not figure out how to make it work...so I let it go.
