In an A/U where Atterria’s mother fled to Ylisse instead of Valm, also assuming that Stahl and Atterria knew each other as children.
"So where are we going?" Atterria asked, "There doesn’t seem to be anything out here."
"Just you wait, we’re almost there!" the green cavalier assured, "you’re in for quite a surprise."
There was a low audible groan from the tactician followed by a tightening of her hands around his waist, leaning her forehead up against the Cavalier’s back. She hated horses, and the whole experience of having to ride one all the way out here was making her feel sicker by the minute. She had no idea what this grand surprise Stahl had in mind but she hoped it would be over soon so that they could head back to camp. After ten more minutes of silent riding, Stahl’s horse finally came to a stop.
"Alright! We’re here," he announced, "take a look."
Atterria detached herself and leaned to the side to take a peek, the entire time still holding onto Stahl for support.
"A cabin?" she questioned, looking up at him in both confusion and irritation, "we rode for nearly an hour just so you could show me a rundown cabin?"
The green cavalier smiled and nodded, “I take it you don’t remember… but this is where we first met as children…” Atterria’s expression lightened in realization, “I guess that bump on your head really did erase everything…”
His voice trailed off, “father and I came across this place when he took me out hunting for the very first time. Needless to say, we had a bit of an accident and stumbled upon this place, you and your mother took us in for a couple of days…”
Stahl tilted his head to the side and back in order to get a better look at his passenger, “—I remember that you and I spent those couple of days doing all sort of fun stuff. You said it was because you got so lonely since there was no one else to play with that you wanted to enjoy every last minute of it…”
"I see…" she pursed her lips, breaking eye contact and lowering her head, "it sounds like something I would say…"
Stahl’s smile faded as a wave of sadness washed over him; still he was determined to lighten up her mood. “Hey, how about we go inside, yeah?” it was a hopeful suggestion, “who knows… maybe we’ll find something that will jog up your memory.”
With her gaze still down, Atterria slowly nodded her head in agreement; and unwrapped her arms from around him waist. He quickly climbed down before helping her off; as Atterria made her way towards the cabin, Stahl quickly secured his steed to remainder of a fence. His eyes quickly darted in her direction, and paused for a moment, he could see the uncertainty in her posture. No doubt she was a little hesitant to go further, even a bit scared.
"Atterria?" he called, walking up behind her and placing a hand on her back, "you okay?"
"Yeah…" she mumbled, "just… anxious…"
"Here," he extended his arm, "well go in together, alright?"
"Right," she added with a nod, "thank you…"
