SO I UH..... SOMETHING HAPPENED *sweats*
I'm in this ridiculous situation now wrt Amazon that I don't think is resolvable -
so a few days ago. I search 'primevideo danmark' because I know that I can have an account - maybe even a free trial period because it's been years - without having an amazon account because primevideo in Denmark is just for streaming, not for the buying shit online and having it shipped to your house. only, it recognises my email address (of course; I do have both an amazon.com and amazon.co.uk account, the .com account predates my move to the UK and the .co.uk account is from when I lived there. I even have an amazon.de account bc sometimes it was easier to get stuff shipped from Germany than the US! fancy that!) and asks me to simply log in, and while I'm at it, choose a tier.
the tiers are only shown in £.
weird, because when I had primevideo before moving to the UK, I paid in €. but ok. I choose the cheapest tier and update my payment method since it's only showing an old UK bank card. which makes sense because I haven't used amazon in any capacity since before I left the UK. money is deducted, I now have primevideo and I'm ready to watch Ride or Die. (I also make a calendar reminder to cancel the subscription in a little less than a month: I only want it now because I'm at home unwell and with little else to do.)
fast forward three days and I've watched most everything I want to watch save for a few things I'm leaving for when my brain and head are less mushy, and decide I want to rent this one movie actually, I don't care, just let me pay to see it.
primevideo, immediately: we cannot process this rental and you have not been charged as you must pay with a card associated with a UK address.
me, staring at the screen, all of which is in Danish and has been in Danish this whole time: I'm sorry what
primevideo: did I stutter
me: WHY DID YOU ACCEPT MY MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION THEN
I poke around a bit and discover that when I paid the first monthly instalment (with a card associated with a DANISH address) it also reactivated my old Amazon Prime subscription associated with my amazon.co.uk account. you know, the thing where if you were so inclined you could order shit online and have it shipped to your house for free and whatnot. I did have one. I used it mostly for groceries and occasional large orders, and, well, prime video.
I do not live in the UK. My amazon.co.uk account knows I don't live in the UK. in fact, when I updated my address on that account after I moved, it immediately told me "unfortunately you no longer have access to [list of digital products I have bought, mostly books] and you must switch your main store to amazon.com". I switched my main store back to amazon.com, which it had been before, and could now access digital products (books) I had bought on *that* account before I moved to the UK but that I couldn't access in the UK. because. well. *gestures at everything* amazon.com is the international store for countries that don't have their own amazon. and there's no amazon.dk store. amazon officially does not have a presence in Denmark other than primevideo.
I go back to primevideo and check what my regional setting is. it's EU.
I try to rent the movie again.
we cannot process this rental and you have not been charged as you must pay with a card associated with a UK address.
I go the amazon.com store and click the prime video tab. it shows me already logged in. it also displays a banner reading "travelling outside the US? the content available to you will change depending in your location."
I have never been in the US and the address on my amazon.com account has always been a Danish address.
Why are the Toronto Blue Jays trending.
Okay. Someone take pity on me. Are we shipping Ryan Gosling and the autistic rock? Is that what's happening?
He kidnapped them and held them prisoner????????????
who did WHO kidnap?
