I know Florida in the summer is usually a splash zone, but it’s downright damp today. I know there’s a tropical whatever coming my way but yeesh! Good thing I only had two clients today, so I can just go home.
It’s less of an outright downpour where it’s “thick heavy drops in a single area” and more of a “thick heavy drops widely spread” situation. The other types are light drops widely spread and light drops in a condensed area.
Light drops widely spread is just a sort of misting where it’s barely rain and you might just need to cover your hair. Think hot cocoa and a book weather.
Light drops in a condensed area is inconvenient but will pass with time. Think “wait ten minutes, it will pass.”
Heavy drops widely spread is a bit more sketchy. You get hydroplaning conditions in this type of rain, and it’s usually an all day affair with some breaks now and then. For sure umbrella, minimal driving, and staying indoors.
Heavy drops in a condensed area is bad. This produces flooding and is usually what you get in your classic Florida thunderstorms. It will usually pass quickly unless there’s a weather system coming in, so be patient. Whatever is important can wait half an hour.
