having more people headcannon characters from things as trans is all well and good and its a very good development however i now realizing why i (personally) hate it when people headcannon characters as trans and being the opposite gender than what they were in cannon and its because yall are NOT creative
9 times out of 10 i see people headcannon male characters as trans woman or woman characters as trans men its basically just the genderbending shit with extra steps
like is there really a difference here?? is there?? did you guys never grasp why people were uncomfortable about genderbending in the first place? this is why.. its because it involves taking a character and just slapping on every cis and hetoronormative definition of "feminine" or "masculine" (and rarely sometimes nonbinary which obviously only means you look as androgynous as possible /sarcastic)
this isnt meant to come off as accusatory or angry im just so tired of seeing people dull down being trans to just this. just looking like the way cis people think you should look. i love that people can find themselves and others in these characters- and i know that some trans people do fit into more traditional means of femininity or masculinity but not all of us do- and when every single thing you see is dumbing down being trans to just "cis person without tits or cis person wearing a binder" it gets so tiring
not to mention if you stopped only ever doing the same thing i think yall would have more fun experimenting with these things in drawings! in fics! trans men can have tits trans men can not wear binders- some trans men love being feminine and some hate it! some trans men look more androgynous than others and some dont, trans women can have tits from transitioning and some dont want tits, some trans women have beards or facial hair- some trans woman dont want to look feminine or some trans woman want to look very androgynous- or enbies! not all enbies only go by they/them some dont use they/them at all! some enbies might not even look androgynous at all either- enbies can have facial hair or boobs or both!
being trans isnt as simple as you think it is and thats okay! so many people have different experiences with gender and their sense of self and so many people- even trans people- forget this. we are all unique, and more importantly: not all of us look cis
so just for your pal sleepii.. look at your trans headcannons for characters- or even trans oc's- and just think about this ok?
not every trans person has the same experience with gender, so your characters shouldn't either!!!!
