Father van Damme tells Hasse’s mother here that Hasse had made lots of noise when she got baptized. I think he came up with this story on the spot, since he seems like the kind of person that doesn’t care about changing the truth when it serves his interests. Also, I feel like Hasse’s mother should have remembered it if Hasse had thrown a scene, she was her first child, so I think it would make quite an impression. The terrible thing is that I think that if he hadn’t said this, Hasse’s mum might never have believed that Hasse would be a changeling. And if that never happened, Hasse’s childhood might have been very different…
