Help Rural Sobpad School in Thailand!
Okay, so I am struggling with having inadequate resources for my new volunteer teaching position, and how much my $425.17 a month stipend actually covers after feeding myself. I want to do paper mache letters with the students, get prizes to give out with games, buy art supplies, English workbooks, and other learning materials. I need things for the classroom, like dry erase markers, glue sticks, a stapler, construction paper, safety scissors, paint, graph paper, colored pencils, crayons, rulers, blocks, shapes, flashcards, etc. I also would like to buy a pair of glasses that aren’t broken and tied to my head with fishing line. Apparently, I need to step up my appearance while in school. Thai people dress pretty conservatively, and thus far my attempts at covering myself up and looking like I didn’t crawl out of a gutter have proven inadequate (I got some feedback from more than one teacher…yikes). I don’t want to be offensive or culturally insensitive, so I need to fix this. I set up a paypal account for anyone who wants to make a donation. Even a few dollars translates to some really helpful school supplies.
