Just came off an unforgettable last few days with some pretty amazing people at this year’s @Socality Camp. Here’s a couple shots from the unreal sunrise we got at Lake Louise on Monday morning. Cato came all the way from Belgium to spend the week with us, and it was something special to see such a diversity of creative people in one place for a few days. It’s been a year and a half since we hosted the first @socalitycamp in the Canadian Rockies (and this photo - one of my favorite portraits to date) and today I’m pumped to say the second edition of camp is finally live. Still lots of planning and preparation to come, but it’s shaping up to be an absolutely unforgettable week. Tickets go on sale to the public on Monday but the pre-sale launched today and the first tier of tickets sold out incredibly fast. One of the best parts of summer and fall this year was experiencing new places in Alberta for the first time. It’s #GivingTuesday today and it’s got me thinking a lot about this idea of generosity. On one hand I love the idea of a day of generosity (and would encourage you to check out the work @ijm is doing to see an end to slavery in our lifetime - your donations are doubled today!) On the other hand, I believe we need to look closer at our own lives during the other 364 days of the year to ask if we are living lives of generosity when it’s not just the trending thing to do on a given day. I’ve been really challenged lately to ask myself how I can live a life of generosity that’s consistent and constant, not just when it’s culturally convenient. Generosity usually isn’t inconvenient and it rubs directly against our me-first western culture. So I’d encourage you to support a cause today, but I’m challenging myself, and you’re welcome to join me in digging into what it means to live a life of generosity every single day. // #socality #explorealberta #socalitycamp
