F, K, M, N for the fic asks! I was gonna ask the one about collabs too but y'know.
F: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
“That temper of yours, Li’l Darlin’. It’s gonna make a fool outta ya, if ya let it.” He said it softly, in the way he had that made him sound like an old wise man. It wasn’t what Nicole was expecting him to say, but if she was being completely honest, she couldn’t disagree.
“I didn’t mean to, Grandaddy. It just happened. I just got so angry.” Her eyes fell to her lap where her hands were fidgeting with the flap on the cargo pocket of her jean shorts.
“I know ya’ve always stood up for yourself, Li’l Darlin’. And for those that ya care about.” He reached out and nudged her chin up so that she was looking him in the eye. “Yer a protector, and I’ve always been proud of ya for it.” He was smiling gently, but his face was still serious. “But ya can’t protect outta anger, Li’l Darlin’. It has to be outta love.”
Nicole could feel heat rising in her face, but she didn’t know if it was because of the temperature, her guilt, or something else. He dropped his chin slightly but held her gaze, as though he was looking at her over the top of a pair of glasses. “If ya let people make ya angry, Nicole, ya give ‘em control over ya. Ain’t nobody deserves to have control over ya, but yerself.”
I think I’m most proud of this exchange because I wrote it nearly a year ago, and then in Season 2, Nicole tried to protect Waverly from the DNA results -- because she loved her -- and it made it feel like this scene with 13-year-old Nicole could have been canon.
K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?
Well, you see. That particular scenario hasn’t been written yet. So, I can’t give you any spoilers on it.
But I’ll say instead, that I think Let My Demons Lie is probably the angstiest story I have currently in progress, between the chapters that are already posted, and some important exchanges that are still to be written. It didn’t get nicknamed Sad Puppies for no reason.
The other really angsty one that’s already posted is In the Darkness Before the Dawn (Leave a Light, a Light On). But it is based on a real event, so that’s a little different.
M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?
Ha. Haha. HAHAHAHAHhahahahahaahaaa...
Do I have any premises on the back burner? An entire spreadsheet full of them. And that’s not an exaggeration.
Any that I’d care to share? Well, that’s an entirely different question, now isn’t it?I don’t normally like to give out info on stories I’m planning to write in the future, but just this once, I’ll give a little hint. There is a High School AU in the works, based on this post. I don’t want to say too much else about it and give anything away, so that will have to do for now. ;)
N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?
Haha, no. I jest. Okay, but seriously... >.>
How about if I tell you about the one I already did convince someone else to write for me?
I had an idea for Waverly having her memories of Nicole ripped away from her after they exorcised her. A new sort of Curse. She remembered everything and everyone else, but anything that had to do with Nicole was completely gone. I had this whole idea for how things happened between them and how the curse was eventually broken and everything.
But I could not for the life of me figure out how to turn it into a oneshot and not some long, elaborate chaptered fic.
So I gave the idea and all of my notes to @sunspill, and batted my smurfy little eyes, and sweet-talked her into writing it for me. (I never thought it would actually work. I might have to try this again sometime...)
And let me tell you. She turned it into a masterpiece. Did it far more justice as a oneshot than I ever would have been able to manage. If you guys haven’t read it yet, you really should go and read it right now.
Thanks for your questions, @socallmedaisy!
Send me an ask about my writing.
