What is FC Stadium Status?
Growing up in America, we mostly know the sport as soccer, while the majority of the world calls it football. There are many stories about how this came to be, but whatever you call it, “The Beautiful Game” is the most popular in the world. There is nothing like the atmosphere in the stands during a soccer game, especially World Cup games.
Football Club Stadium Status (FC Stadium Status) is a website I created that came from the curiosity of the costs of attending games, a Kanye West song “Big Brother”, and the momentum of a new fanbase for soccer in America. You can use the FC Stadium Status website to explore the costs of seeing a Major League Soccer match or one from any of the five big leagues in Europe. In addition to ticket prices, you can sort by team and stadium names or see how many fans can pack the stadium. The website will help both new and old fans understand how big the game is worldwide and see what you could expect to pay for tickets to get the live experience.
The 2014 World Cup inspired people across the country to watch Team USA as they advanced further than anyone expected. For once, casual sports fans in America were watching soccer with their coworkers and friends or even heading to the bar to watch with other fans. A lot of new fans became interested in soccer from watching the exciting run the USA had. Unfortunately, the World Cup is only a month long and doesn’t come around again for another 4 years. Many of those new fans are thinking, “Now what?”
Well, the good thing about soccer is there is never really an offseason. The US Women’s National team will be competing in the World Cup this summer in Canada. The Gold Cup, a regional tournament between national teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean, will be hosted in cities across the US starting in July.
Recreating the same level of World Cup excitement for regular season games every week is not the easiest thing to do, but if you tune into the right games at the right time, quality soccer isn’t hard to find. The same players who played for the US in the World Cup are now on teams in Major League Soccer (MLS) and will be playing in cities across America this summer.
Hopefully, the excitement from the World Cup can start to thrive and the newest culture of soccer in America can continue to grow.
