hoaxes and misinformation are not fun funny or just a joke, they just lead to bigger problems, to stop the problem, You have to deal with the Psychology behind these hoaxes and misinformation, a lot of these hoaxs and misinformation are designed to spread fear in the community.

Linked with this subject are pseudo science, pseudo history and pseudo archaeology, which can be linked to racist views and anti science, which could lead to misleading information about science getting out, leading to people not taking medicines they need or the person listening to bad advice which could be harmful

Conclusion:

The problem of misinformation is getting worse, and the only way to stop this problem of misinformation and hoaxes is to challenge it with the truth.

Social/Political Action #1

While at the Common Ground Country Faire in Maine over the weekend, I was signing a petition to put mandatory paid family medical leave on the ballot. 

A passerby started commenting loudly to the worker behind the desk, “it won’t happen, just sayin’. I don’t see it happenin’.”

The poor worker looked tired and defeated, replying, “I have to try.”

After finishing the paperwork, I looked the worker and said (in reply to the doubter), “you know, they said the same thing about the 19th amendment in regards to women voting.”

The worker’s face lighting up made my weekend.

The problem with deplatforming a person as a form of social/political action is that what that actually looks like, and how to achieve it, can be frustratingly unclear.

Seed Bombs.....

I see lots of posts encouraging people to seed bomb golf courses.

I understand the intent behind this. However, I hope that seed bombing doesn’t result in greenkeepers using extra chemical herbicides to deal with all the unexpected plants that start popping up.
