So, I’m having this frustrating ethical dilemma. In that there is a shelter in town that is absolute shit, they treat people like shit. But it’s one of two shelters that accepts women with kids, or without kids. So without them, where do these people go.

Can we just get rid of the people who run it? 

Plus their grievance policy means all grievance letters have to be sent to the shelter. Which means the person who runs it, and also lives there can open it.

In general I’m tired of the shelter system itself, it doesn’t really help the people who need it the most. It literally is doing the least to help people. But until we have housing first here, it’s necessary. They’re just horrible though.

Sometimes when social workers say things, I just want to be like, you completed a social work education? I mean you have a degree in social work, you are practicing social work, so....

And then I hear them talk over me, and I get it.
