when you come across a new-to-you, human anime character, do you start out by assuming they are ethnically japanese?
yes, full stop
only when the character has dark hair and eyes with pale skin
only when the characters are drawn in a more realistic fashion
only if their costume details look traditionally japanese
some combination of the above three options
no, i think of them as raceless or existing outside the context of ethnicity
no, it just never occurred to me
