I was born the year the world saw the true face of terror as the towers fell.
I grew up in terror of a world corrupted by the shadow of my ignorant predecessors.
I grew up in a world where being different meant your were the monster under my bed.
I grew up in a world ruled by the devices we held in our hand and in our homes.
I grew up in a world where children would paint with knifes on their skin.
I grew up in a world where women were still ridiculed for their anatomy.
I grew up in a world where your skin defined your fate.
I grew up in a world where people swallowed colourful pills to forget their life.
I grew up in a world where education was gunned down by mad men.
I grew up in a world where we became numb to the violence of reality.
I grew up in a world where monsters despoil the innocence of love and everyone turned a blind eye.
I grew up in a world of children hiding in closets in fear of rejection.
I grew up in a world full of hate and misery for one another.
I grew up in a world torn by the inequality of justice.
I grew up in a world where you have to bend to the will of society.
I am generation Z and I will not go down without a fight
this is one of my short poems about my world to realise my anger from it, The is one of many and until this world changed I won’t either.
