she'd thought about this. very seriously. super seriously, in fact. what was the best way for her to flirt with ewan? she couldn't very well do something superficial, but it'd be so easy to because everyone else was doing that too. but, he was her friend and she's pretty sure they've seen some really weird stuff together so she will very gently take his hand and nod. very seriously, she says, "if you and i were socks, we'd make a great pair."
Cynthia had started a game, and on any other day, Ewan would have been sorely tempted to join. Even now, he envied the names he had already witnessed scrawled in ink on those hurrying about the beach in search of victory.
But he’d planned his day out already - and he’d already convinced Innes to meet up with him at the appointed spot... He just couldn’t waste the opportunity. He had to prepare.
But nothing could have prepared him for this.
Cynthia took Ewan’s hand and he froze, blinking owlishly. What was she up to...?
Ah.
Right. Right. Her game. Most certainly it was all just a part of her game. Nothing less, nothing more. . .
He grinned wide, curiously... relieved? (He wasn’t sure how to describe it.)
“We’d make the Best pair, if you and I were socks,” he confirmed with a nod. “Here. Lemme just...” Her hand delicately in his, he lifted it up gently, rotated it so the palm faced skyward. He wasn’t sure where this quill had come from, but it didn’t matter. It was here. Good enough.
“Go get ‘em, Thia.”
