On how another Stark was added to the family.
Me: Isn't Ghost cute?
Gf: Yeah, too bad he killed Susan's one.
Me: What.
Gf: Susan's wolf. Y'know, Susan Stark.
Me: ... Do you mean Sansa?
Gf: Oh.

I talked to my eldest brother for the first time in a long time
We're both reading SOFAI and that makes me really happy. I said that I identified with Arya as the rowdy younger sister and he said she's one of his favourites.

Fuck Ned Stark
You know what? Fuck Ned Stark. He had one job. And he failed. Don't get me wrong, he was a great character and a good man. His world is a worse place without him in it- and that is precisely the point. He had one job: to protect his family and the people of Westeros and ensure to continuence of his house. Instead he decided to play simple and naive- whilst obviously in the midst of prolific and society-shifting events. And please don't give me talks of honor. I understand and admire his dedication to his values, but he felt the politics mechanizations required of him were beneath him. Now he is dead. His wife is dead. His oldest son is dead. His daughter-in-law and his grandson are dead. His children are orphaned throughout the world, and the Lannisters are astride the Iron Throne- to the woe of the people of Westeros. Jamie Lannister is a piece of shit, but he did what had to be done when he killed the mad king, and (to a lesser degree) when he "protected" his family by trying to murder a damn child. If Ned Stark had one-tenth of what the sociopathic and reprehensible Jamie had, Westeros would be at peace beneath the velvet gauntlet of a good King. Nature does not reward those who shrink from what fate requires of them.
Poor guy can't even get a break at a hockey game.
