It was a question Sam heard often at meetings like this, and one he understood. After Afghanistan --- after Riley, he spent a lot of time thinking about the kind of life he wanted and the kind he had. (He’d spent a lot of time back then wondering if he wanted a life at all, but that wasn’t a topic he broached often.) Glancing to the girl (and she was familiar, wasn’t she? He’d seen her before?), he offered her a faint smile. “Between you and me? I don’t think you can be sure. I’m not. The question you’ve really gotta ask yourself is --- what makes you happy? I always think that’s the best place to start.”
