After a long week and with a few places already getting ready to change their decoration to the Valentine's Day festivities, Sofia tried to sneak away to somewhere that hadn't been affected yet by that fever.
When she was walking on the street, passing in front of a daytime closed Sound of the Sea, she spotted a familiar face across the street and decided to go to meet her. "Veronica?", she asked with a soft smile on her face.
The phone call exchanged with her mother wasn't enough to break the spell Sofia got herself into and then we had the request to Sofia stay inside Veronica's apartment until her mother reversed the spell, but when would that happen? Sofia had already passed days in that place, only getting out two from the five days in that body, all she wanted was to get away for a while, sleep and forget all these problems.
The worst part? She knew something else was wrong, she could feel it in Veronica's body. Whatever the Deveraux's girl had, it was starting to bother Sofia and it started after the meeting with Kyson at her door last Sunday. She had got angry, more angry than she had been in a while. Like all the anger she was keeping inside to herself was starting to come to the surface, a dark energy setting down all over Veronica's body, wanting to come out.
The diaries. Sofia remembered that she passed the Saturday searching and investigating Veronica's life to make sure the girl wasn't a witch like her that could have possibly casted this spell. Maybe they have something more, or so Sofia hoped to get more answered about what she was feeling. But Sofia had already gone through them, nothing specific was written about what this older girl had or was but she was definitely not normal. Anger is a component of the dark side and from darkness Veronica knew but Sofia didn't had many knowledge in that subject. Inside one of the diaries Veronica used to write, there was a quote in bold from an Indian Book written by a man called Osho:
"If you go into a deep well, then you can see the stars in the sky even in the day. A certain darkness is needed to see the stars. So go into a deep well and look from the bottom, and you will be able to see the stars in the day also. The stars are there. It is not that in the night they are there and in the day they are not, they are always there. In the night you can see them easily. In the day you cannot see them because the sunlight becomes a barrier."
Sofia wasn't sure if she could get what this quote meant, probably meant something important to Veronica but what could possibly be the relationship between a girl that seemed so sweet and darkness? There was something more in that diaries' page, a poem written by Veronica, or so Sofia could take it was Veronica who came up with it, with the same title of the quote in bold from the other man:
A Certain Darkness is Needed to See the Stars
Wrapped up in the pain of life, she never wonders to far.
There is no other direction or place to go, just orders to follow.
Her heart yearns for more and yet she knows it will be hard to get.
For this world has never been kind to her, just dirty and painful.
The longer she sits and wonders, the more she aches inside.
Yet she cant help but to think what is waiting for her out there.
As her life gets darker, her dreams brighten and linger.
Without all this darkness and pain, she would not know joy or love.
But what does it mean to have such pain and darkness to
illuminate all the love that has been and will be in your life.
She knows that you must hit rock bottom to know
just how bright you are able to shine
Darkness and Light, a dilemma that Sofia recorded to read even in old magic books. The limit between the two was never too clear and it was easy for someone pure to fall into the dark, the difficulty would be getting out of it. Two sides of the same coin, two sides that everyone had since the day they were born, two distinct worlds that somehow in the development of her diaries, Veronica seemed to know somehow, always showing some concern about a part of her that she didn't want to let out but she couldn't control, a part that had chosen to control the dark and all the implications it would give, no matter how empty the darkness could leave you...
