October Sky - 1999
A 1999 film, which can now be watched on netflix, is just what i needed this weekend.
It's about a boy who looks up while everyone else keeps their head down. About coal dust and stargazing. About wanting something more — not out of rebellion, but because your heart just won't stop dreaming.
I came across this movie just today while browsing netflix, and I am so glad that I did. The movies now a days (at least for me) can get a bit too much. Movies like these are a good change of pace, like a refesher might i add.
There’s something so achingly beautiful about a small town where dreams feel too big for the sky they’re trapped under. And somehow, it’s the quiet scenes that hurt the most. The ones where no one says anything, but you feel everything.
I am a type of person who likes to feel the emotions of the characters, look at their subtle but intentional cues. It makes watching a film that much more interesting and fun.
Watch it if you’ve ever stared out a window and wished your life felt more like a story. Or if you just want to cry a little in a soft, cinematic way.
