PADMASANA
Hi, guys! This is my first baby fanfic and I'm super excited about it. Just a blurb I had to write down, but I thought it'd be a good starter (eventually we'll get into the smut hehe). Big hell yeah to @risingwiththeheatabove for helping inspire this prompt with our typical fangirling, lmao.
Soft Josh!

Summary: You find Josh during morning meditation!
You awoke to a strip of light on your face, warming your cheeks. Your blinds were cracked just enough to let in a few rays of the peachy, early-morning sunshine. Rolling over onto your side, you took note of the empty space next to you, made all the more evident by crumpled sheets and the comforter being thrown over onto itself. Pulling out your phone from underneath your pillow, you read, “7:41”. It was Saturday - a much needed day off for Josh. You knew exactly where to find him.
You tiptoed down the stairs, knowing you’d be welcomed into the living room by an all too familiar sound: the vibrant hum of Tibetan singing bowls.
Nothing centered Josh more on a day off than waking with the sunrise and delving into some deep meditation. Reaching the bottom two stairs, the room opened up in front of you in the exact state you expected. All of the windows had been thrown open, inviting in both the sunlight and the harmonious singing of the morning birds. He had lit a few candles and scattered them around the room, along with a patchouli incense stick that rested a few feet to his left. He sat in the center of the room, eyes closed in padmasana. He was adorned in white silken pants that billowed out from under him like clouds. His feet and his chest were bare, save for a few strings of white, low-hanging beads. His eyes were closed. If you took a moment and really focused, you could both hear and feel a low, steady vibration emanating from him. He was humming, entranced.
Normally, you’d never dare to interrupt Josh while he was meditating; you knew how important it was to him, and how fully it set his mind at ease. These were the moments that grounded him amidst tours and late-night sessions in the studio. However, to your detriment, you were a perfectionist. Your eyes had locked onto a section of hair that had gotten loose, poking out from his ever-growing rat tail. You glanced at your phone again, “8:02”. Josh had been meditating for exactly an hour and two minutes. You just couldn’t help yourself. Still, you tried to be as gentle and as quiet as you could be.
You tiptoed over to Josh, creeping over from behind. You knelt down behind him, holding your breath and balancing on your toes. You were positive that you had gone unnoticed until a soft, raspy whisper wobbled up from under Josh’s breath:
“Do you think I didn’t notice your presence the moment you stepped into the room, love?”
Your face flushed and your breath caught in your throat, yet you hushed him. “Sh sh, I’m not even here. Just let me fix this little braid…” Your hands worked quickly and nimbly. His hair wasn’t too long yet.
“See, baby? Done. Now ignore me, please go back to your medita-”
You were cut off by a sweeping motion that took your breath away. Josh had turned back to you to grab you by your torso and behind your neck, pulling you into his lap. You were laying on your back, looking up at him. Shocked by his swift action, you both let out strings of laughter, then allowed yourselves to relax and melt back into each other. His enormous, chocolate cow-eyes were heavy from a long sleep and well-earned relaxation. His lips curled up into a small, closed-lip smile. His eyes held all of his love for you, and you could feel the weight within his gaze. He looked rested and peaceful. He laced one hand through your hair, fingers dancing with your loose tendrils. Making sure to be extra gentle, he scratched lightly at your scalp. His other hand cradled the side of your face, his thumb sweetly tracing over your lips. You felt your breath catch in your throat once more, the emotion bringing your chest to a glowing warmth.
“You are my steadiness in this vast existence. There is no peace that I have experienced in this life that holds a candle to you, love.”
