Babaluma street scene
Across the table, notorious card shark Sarko Both is staring at you with ominous intent. You’ve bet more gold than you possess and the hand you’ve been dealt doesn’t look as good as you thought. To the left is a stranger who hasn’t taken off his sunglasses despite the darkness of the tavern and to the right is an intoxicated mad-man who smells strangely of nitrate and sulphur. He keeps murmuring under his breath ‘stab-back’. The vibes are not good.
In the dense and ancient streets of Babaluma City you will find hidden down a nondescript alley a notorious den of vagabonds and rogues known as The Green Snake Inn. In the dim light of this smoky tavern a traveller can avoid the desert heat and unwelcome questions about one’s past. But all patrons know to watch their backs, all too often encounters in this shady dive are ended in outbursts of violence.
