He had been denying needing the aid to climb his own steps by her up until the sting of yin energy from the demon that attacked him flared up in his side and he stumbled. Once proud, Ren eventually would let her guide him to the next step, bitter amusement in his low voice as he peers up the mountain and through the forest.
