@ziyoue / Lan Chen asked: " i would like to stay. " he finds himself admitting suddenly into the quiet air. something in him is racing to some kind of finish line, a beat he swallows down. chen isnt great with words, he says enough when it's needed. but right now it feels imperative he makes his intentions clear. concise. " wherever it is you wish to go, i would like to go as well. as long as you will have me. " // for onikiri
𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐊𝐎 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐒 turn from green to yellow over the small field this past year together has reminded Onikiri of the bittersweet, yet beautiful, transience of life. He had thought that even the fallen petals of cherry blossom trees seemed timeless, forever unchanging even after drifting from their branches into his hair and open palm. Once, he stood beneath these blossoms with another and foolishly thought change only happened for those who needed it. He never realized those blossoms life span was as short as bird's song, or that all living things weaving their fated path are changed along the way. And though his heart has changed too, worn down and spit out upon the bloody path he has led, the gingko trees that fade to be reborn anew have made Onikiri come to realize loyalty, happiness, and even .... love ... can change and be born into something new.
And although love can live in palaces, it can also live in thatched cottages. Here on the small deck of one such cottage, in an unimportant village outside of the Heian-kyo that feels worlds away from him now, Onikiri turns his scarred eyes upon Lan Chen. His heart does not feel shackled like it was when he first arrived here, trying to desperately to leave it upon Mount Oe and throw himself into ploughing and harvesting the fields.
Instead he finds it nestled in the quiet space between this human and himself, whispering in understanding to each other's pains, bittersweet and tender to the offer of sharing a path.
Words do not befit the moment. Onikiri, once a blade carved to any who would approach him, instead covers his thin hand upon Lan Chen's and leans in to rest his head upon his strong shoulder, sheathing his past at long last.
how do you love?
with warmth, wonder and willows
you love with fondness. your love is coming home to a snuggly cup of tea and book by your side. your love is kissing the foreheads and cheeks of the people you love as you pass by. making dinner together. riding bicycles. sitting with your back against a tree in a quiet meadow. you love with your whole heart and you are not shy. the people you love cannot help falling in love with you too. you love with serenity.
@sunslung !
“you got your bag ready?” he’s totally gonna take rj and céline on the train to his place, but he knows he earns cool older brother points when he swings in through the window, so that’s how he makes his entrance. he pulls his mask down to show that he’s already grinning. god, this is such a step up from his own earth. “where’s your big bro? you finally sell him to the circus? he’s got the flips for it.”
