okay, this has been sitting in my inbox for a couple of days, but i did want to throw my 5 cents in before all hell breaks loose tonight -- so if not now, when?

penny-23 and alice go to the mirror world and something happens that makes it impossible for them to get back or destroys it altogether from the inside, which is why it’s pitch black around them in the promo -- something’s clearly not right in there. cue a timeskip and a rumored funeral, which could very well be alice and penny’s if they don’t get back for a long time and none of the attempts to bring them back work so everyone assumes they’re gone for good. they could also be who penny-40 greets in the underworld, though not necessarily because they’re dead dead which i don’t think they will be

also: alice is screaming because some terrible thing is happening on the outside and she and penny are helpless to do anything to stop it, which brings me to my next point

they’re witnessing the destruction of fillory, probably connected to everett and the reservoir of magic we see him walk to in the promo

everett’s going to be The Big Bad of the finale and there’s going to be some kind of an epic confrontation between him and zelda at some point

zelda might die, possibly confronting everett -- but if so, her death would play a huge part in moving the plot forward and helping our heroes win

quentin “reflecting on his decisions” is him blaming himself for alice and penny not being able to make it out of the mirror world

speaking of quentin: he snaps at some point and everyone realizes why exactly he’s been so adamant that they’re saving eliot (spoiler: he’s still in love with him), he and alice have a heart-to-heart and she tells him that she’s not going to be his rebound just because eliot rejected him, but she will help quentin save him. they decide that they still want each other in their lives because the connection and the history between them will never be erased, and then they hug? maybe? could we please get a hug?

quentin uses margo’s axes to get the monster out of eliot -- he and margo are the ones to save him, but something’s not right which is why margo is screaming eliot’s name

eliot ends up being fine, julia as well. everyone gets a breather and a moment of happiness, albeit short because this is the magicians we’re talking about

bonus (why i think queliot will happen): even if we exclude everything that goes beyond the show itself, it just makes sense from a narrative perspective, because eliot’s feelings for quentin have been the crux of his arc this season, and quentin’s feelings for eliot have been a big damn part of his character arc as well, both moving the plot forward and thus vital. there has got to be a resolution -- and yes, i doubt we’ll get full-on in-a-relationship queliot this season, but their reunion will definitely be framed as romantic because that’s the only narratively consistent road they could take imo

she smiled at me from across the room, and all bets were off i had to know what made her heart beat and what was behind that smile of hers i want to know if that smile happens when i cross her mind at midnight when she’s drifting to sleep and her mind is racing she’s a dreamer like me i wonder if she stares out her window as she writes poetry in her journal yearning for something new does she know she’s beautiful or do the years tear her down when she looks back at them like they have done to me i hope time is gentler to her i think it’s catching up i want to tell her everything but i think she might just go
