Software Management
WordPress is a laggy nightmare, so despite WordPress being a nice uninteractive platform I don't want to use it anymore. Alternatively, I could make my own static website, which I don't have time to set up right now, despite having an art website. Ideally I would love to set up my own database of blog posts, but until then, I'm blogging here.
I feel like I have actually learned a lot in college, and it would have been really hard if not actually impossible to make a game without going to college - unlike making art which you can do self-taught. Yeah, I've made a simple Ren'py game in high-school, and other little projects, and Notch made Minecraft without going to college (but he made a ton of smaller things before making Minecraft) - but the real skill is in long term commitment, being able to plan and manage yourself, and most importantly of all the gauntlet of emotional regulation required to go to class and stay on top of schoolwork even when the punishments and payoffs aren't readily visible. Follow-through is a skill, confidence is the reward.
I've actually learned a lot in my senior level software process management class. None of these textbooks:
Software Engineering - A Practitioner's Approach by Roger S Pressmen
Effective Project Management: Traditional, Agile, Extreme, Hybrid. 8th edition, Wiley, 2019
were ever mentioned in my own self teaching learning game-dev in 2020 - 2023 [and community college years], which just taught me how to make rpg mechanics, dialogue, different data types etc. The software management class and software process was wildly necessary. Without understanding how to PLAN how to make your game, no wonder big, long-term projects never come to fruition. Another thing I needed to learn was actually the variety of UML diagrams: the process view, the product view, the activity diagram, the work breakdown structure, the class diagrams, the sequence diagrams, the use cases. Before all of this, I only knew one diagram: the flow chart.
When you only know one word in a language, no wonder you can't communicate. You don't even know that there are other words!
Now, when I get stuck or confused, I have a variety of diagrams, principles, and approaches to DESCRIBE why I am stuck or confused. I think without knowing these things - which I could only have learned in a structured computer science course, compared to the 3 years I spent just trying to self-learn - of course I floundered! I didn't even know what I didn't know.
Right now I am helping a friend who is taking a much-needed break from school and he is working on a game. We shared sophomore year together in uni. Originally he asked me to just give him a deadline, but instead I've asked him details about what he needs to make and how long each component takes. Then giving him a reasonable deadline for each little piece.
I realize every single skill I have in breaking down the game into a schedule was learned in college, including giving ample room for breaks and mistakes. 3 years ago, I used to think "I need external motivation. Why can't I see things through?" It turns out, software process or management is an entire field. It has been studied and revised with precision. No wonder jobs say, "you need a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering." You can teach yourself to code, but its a whole different thing to learn process, which can be generalized to other goals in general. Learning process and management is basically learning executive function and self-control. You can't "force" your way into being productive, it turns out you need a whole different perspective on what it is you're trying to make.
Every day closer to graduation, I feel more confident that I now have the skills to see through in making what I really want to make. Without getting too much into it in this post, this has been the hardest year of my life health-wise, yet I have gritted through it, with the skills I have learned in managing myself. But I won't get into that on this post.
Why Choosing the Right Medical Practice Management Software is Crucial for Your Clinic’s Success
Running a modern clinic is not just about treating patients—it’s also about providing them with a smooth, reliable, and professional experience. With patients becoming more tech-savvy and competition among healthcare providers increasing, clinics need to go beyond traditional methods of managing appointments, billing, and patient records.
This is where medical practice management software comes in. It provides a complete solution to manage daily operations, reduce errors, and save valuable time for both doctors and staff. But the real challenge is choosing the right system that fits your clinic’s unique needs.
Key Reasons Why the Right Software Matters
Enhances Patient Satisfaction
Patients expect quick service, accurate billing, and easy access to their medical records. A well-designed clinic management software allows online booking, automated reminders, and seamless communication, all of which improve the overall patient experience.
Saves Time and Boosts Staff Productivity
Doctors and support staff often waste hours on repetitive tasks like managing paper files or coordinating appointments. A reliable hospital management system automates these processes, helping your staff work faster and more efficiently.
Provides Accurate and Secure Data Management
Misplaced files, duplicate records, or billing errors can cause major issues. Healthcare management software ensures that patient data is stored securely, is easily accessible, and remains error-free. Features like EMR/EHR integration help doctors make informed decisions quickly.
Supports Business Growth
For clinics that want to expand or open new branches in the future, the best clinic management software provides scalability. You don’t need to completely switch systems as your clinic grows—the software adapts to your needs.
👉 One such platform that is designed for clinics of all sizes is Medimate 247. It combines ease of use with advanced features, making it a smart choice for clinics in India, UAE, and the USA.
