Rias character sheet! More background information under the cut tw domestic abuse
Ria grew up with her single dad after her mother left shortly after her birth. Ria didn’t remember her mother at all and her dad never talked about her. She resented her mother for leaving, she hated that her mother didn’t want to be a part of her life.
Rias dad was a good dad, he tried to be there for her whenever he could and encouraged her to pursue her passions. Unfortunately due to his job as a surgeon he was working most of the time. Even though Ria saw how draining his work was on her dad she always aspired to be a doctor like him. She wanted to help people just like he did. Because of this Ria was always very understanding about the fact he couldn’t always be around but she still got lonely.
Her next door neighbors, the garcias had a huge part in raising her. They took care of her when her dad wasn’t around and she was raised alongside of the twins who were a year younger than her max and Matt. The garcias gave her the feeling of family and community she had never had with her own family.
Max and Matt were her best friends as kid, they did everything together. So naturally when the twins joined their first soccer team Ria joined as well. Ria had always enjoyed soccer but when she joined her first she realized how much she actually loved it.
When Ria started school she made more friends and started branching out from spending all her time with the twins. Especially once the twins went off to boarding school she made her other friends a priority. She still spent a lot of time with max during summers and holidays and she hung out at the Garcia house often but she and Matt drifted apart.
Spending more time with her girl friends meant that she noticed how they all started getting interested in boys and getting boyfriends. She had never thought about guys in a romantic way before but when she saw her friends all getting into relationships she decided she wanted the same for herself. none of her relationships ever lasted she always prioritized her school work and her friends over her boyfriends. She even dated Matt for a little over the summer but that was very short lived.
When she went to college she stayed close to home. She wanted to be near her dad and the garcias. She also wanted to go to a school with a good soccer team and a good bio program to prepare her for med school. Which meant she didn’t have a lot of options, thankfully she got into a college near her that had both.
She decided to live on campus for her freshman year despite the fact that the college was close enough to her house to live at home. She didn’t want to keep living in that empty house, it was lonely. She liked the idea of having a roommate. Her and her roommate Lia quickly became best friends.
In college ria also met Liam he seemed nice enough and he was obviously into her. she thought that maybe now that she was out of Highschool she could finally get into a relationship that would last. At first it was great he kind, he took her out and he bought her things. But soon his temper started getting shorter, he’d get angry at her for everything. he even started getting physically violent, it started off with him grabbing her a little to firmly but eventually turned into more.
Lia had never liked Liam, she could tell something was off and had no problem sharing her opinions with Ria. As soon as Ria started coming home with bruises Lia’s protectiveness doubled. She would insist ria leave Liam but Ria would refuse. It took Ria a long time to leave but when she finally did Lia helped her through it. Ria never told anyone else about Liam. She knew her dad, max and her other friends would all be supportive but she hated the idea of telling them. It made her feel weak and she still partially blamed herself.
