Her eyes stare up from the sea,
Leaving her wondering exactly whats above,
Put down by her own mind and those around,
She says her life is not her own,
My heart beats and tells me to help her,
As i try my best, the tide rips her from my grasp,
Leaving me breathless to talk to her,
She in her own world and I in mine,
Her smile echoes around my head,
The shine of the sun in her eyes leaves me blind,
Holding to what i know about her,
We may never be on the same level,
She being a mermaid and I a mere mortal,
I wish to know her better,
But she keeps me at arms length,
Afraid to get close, afraid of the possibilities,
Her eyes cloud when she thinks,
Her life present and abounding,
But she's left an impact on me,
I want to talk, but the words won't come out,
As I see the beauty of this mermaid in front of me.
