BeyArMaMo 2018, Day 15 - Antique

The beginning of Kai’s rebelliousness

Mid drawing I couldn’t help but thinking about ‘The One Thing You Can’t Replace’ while wondering what little Kai could yell back at his grandfather, so there’s the result...

Could you speak up, Grandfather? I can’t hear you from the other end of the world’s longest table.

This is the episode’s most important scene. It’s our second time with Kai’s grandfather, and this time there’s a ton of information about their homelife to be gleaned. The literal distance between them suggests their emotional distance. There’s no small talk; Soichiro speaks TO his grandson, not with him. Also the poor butler looks like he fears for his life. His silence, and the way he holds himself like he’s trying to make himself as small as possible, is all the more striking considering the two other much more active and outspoken butlers we meet later.

What we still don’t know is what reason Soichiro has given his grandson for the duty he wants him to perform. Does Kai know his grandfather wants to take over the world? Does he know that his grandfather is creating artificial sacred beasts with Borg? Or has Soichiro told Kai they are doing this to make Kai the strongest blader in the world? I’m pretty sure we’re looking at a plothole here.

... Not only have they still not paid the electrical bill, but they’ve run out of matches too.

16) Appearance headcanon

So, in the manga he's shown in traditional Japanese fashion, whereas in the series he looks more... well, Russian, in some weird way. In my head, he is always dressed well, I'm thinking suits more than traditional clothes. He's one of those people who you would never see dressed too informal (which causes Kai to wear the ugliest sweatpants he can find out of spite). Maybe Misaki once knitted him a sweater, and maybe he appreciates the gesture more than he wants to admit.

18) Family headcanon

Soichiro never understood what makes his son, Susumu, tick, and he never acknowledges that he also is responsible for Susumu leaving the family. However, he appreciates Misaki and adores Kai, even though he would never admit to it. He always thought Misaki was the one keeping Susumu in check and it broke his heart for her sake when Susumu left. And everytime he looks at Kai he thinks that maybe something good came from all this mess that is their family after all. Deep down, Soichiro can be a sentimental old bastard.

20) Money headcanon

Soichiro is a mean old geezer, he sees to it that Kai has everything he needs, but he never gets cash or any funds to just splurge. If Kai wants something, he has to work for it.

In cooperation with a german Beyblade Fan circle and my partner “Nordwind” (not on tumblr), who written a wonderful sad short story about Voltaire/Soichiro Hiwatari and his dead wife.  Am I the only person who likes him? Or make therories and headcanons about Kai’s grandmother? Com’on! I gave her the name “Felizia” (or Liz).

Soooo, I have a number of Beyblade sims made and I'm testing out the batch I currently have because I don't have all the characters made yet, I just have most of season 1 characters and a couple sets of V-Force characters.

Annnyway, I'm testing them out and I'm playing as Kai's family (Kai, his parents and grandfather).

Well some interesting things have happened in my play-through so far.

At the end of his first day of school Kai brought someone home...specifically Yuuya/Wyatt, this is so appropriate.

Kai's parent's (Susumu and his nameless mother who I've christened Hanako) won't stop whoohooing, I've actually had to lock them out of everyone's bedrooms but their own AND the guest room because they tried everybody else's bed.

Susumu and Soichiro/Voltaire have been abducted by aliens.

Kai just threw a teen party but the family came home early so he had to break up the party when the guest had only just gotten in the house.

Soichiro/Voltaire grounded Kai even though the house was clean...though I suppose the stamped of teens leaving the house clued him in.

Strangely Giancarlo/Enrique stayed behind and he and Kai ended up friends...Kai's first friend is freaking Giancarlo/Enrique.

Now these are all things that just happened without my input, I didn't mean for Kai and Giancarlo/Enrique to become friends, it just happened as they were hanging in the sauna.

Of course, I've lost that last couple things because of Error 12...damn >_>
