Hello, I gotta say this blog is terrific. Mimi's stories are indeed charming. I would love to know your thoughts on a little manga wrote by Masaaki Nakayama you may already be familiar with ;), maybe a little review of it someday?
Huuu, thank you Anon! Soichi is always glad to know that people enjoy his work. And he is especially glad to know that the charm of Mimi’s Ghost Stories is spreading! Soichi knows that they’re a little quiet and low key for Ito manga, but he thinks theres a lot to enjoy <3
Oho! Soichi thinks you might be talking about Fuan No Tane~! ‘The Seeds of Anxiety’~! In fact, this is one of Soichi’s absolute *favorite* horror manga series. To Soichi, one of the worst mistakes a horror story can make is padding it’s length out. Horror movies that spend the first half an hour following inane teenagers, or stories that feel the need to detail out that the terrifying enigmatic monster clown is really some kind of alien giant spider…. these things are incredibly disappointing, and can ruin the best horror.
But Fuan No Tane is everything Soichi could wish for in horror, because it recreates the kind of horror we really feel. To put simply, the sensation of seeing something out of the corner of the eye… the feel of being awake late at night, and not wanting to look into mirrors, or leave doors open too far~ The moment, brief like touching cold metal, where you think maybe…
The sight of the inexplicable is a horrifying thought, because, to put it simply, whoever could we really tell? However could you live on like this~? But its more comforting, isn’t it, then the real fears of day to day life….
Ah, but Soichi has rambled~! To put it simply, Soichi would obviously adore to review a little of Fuan No Tane! Perhaps sometimes Soichi could do brief reviews of other horror manga series more as a whole then the chapter by chapter approach Soichi uses for Ito work. You should all let Soichi know other horror manga you would like to see Soichi talk about~!
