"See?" Ravi says slowly to ensure that he spoke clearly while he had both arms outstretched while he took a series of deliberate steps in the sand. One foot in front of the other in what he's praying was as much of a straight line as his shot-soaked brain thinks he's moving in.
"Perfectly fine, like I said I was. Just needed a trudge in the sand is all."
He's not tipsy enough to be unaware that it his attempts at stretching the night on skirted somewhere close to pathetic, his last ditch attempt being the offer to share a spliff by sea before they called it.
It had been a good time at The Reef and more than that it had been good the whole time. After months of feeling like they were uncanny valley versions of themselves trying to figure out how to be around one another, he finally felt like he had his best friend back.
( And he wasn't ready to let go of her just yet. )
His steps halt so he can pat down his jacket pockets and then his jeans pockets with full concentration, his expression one that usually preluded something that was no good.
"I thought I felt a little light. I think that's because I'm lighterless."

With another day that felt like an eternity in the rearview, Ravi knew that it was now or never on conversation that he couldn't put off having with Sola any longer.
( Whether she would speak to him for long enough for him to get to it now the truck was closed down was another story. )
The unsureness of whether she would remain coupled with the unease he felt having to ask her to were reminders that he was making the right call even if she wouldn't forgive him for it.
"Hey, before you rush off, can you give me five? I need to talk to you about something."

"There she is," Buddy says in place of a hello, his ice cold beer secured from any chance of topping off the arm of the couch by the steadying hold of his hand around it. Between their varying schedules and opposing life demands, Buddy felt like he and Sola were playing a game of roommate hide and seek that they were both excelling at. "You want a beer or are you running out the door?"

"Sorry again," Ravi apologies as he signs his name where the delivery driver indicated for him to, his morning quick turning into a flurry when he had to re-route his plans after getting a less than enthused call about no one being at the truck to sign for that week's delivery, which Sola was supposed to undertake.
He couldn't make out what was grumbled his way as he hands back the stylus he had signed with, biting his tongue though he felt like the ire was unfairly directed his way.
Ravi does his best not to worry about no reply texts and the two calls he had made to his business partner that went on unanswered as he packed the restock away, finding once he was nearly done that there didn't seem to be any cause for concern.
Nine times out of ten just the sight of her was enough to turn around any bad day he had, that morning she was occupying that outlier rogue one and irritation was written all over his face.
"Quick question," He says without any greeting, wiping his hands on the black apron he was wearing, "Did you get robbed on the way here of your phone and your ability to tell time, or do you just think my time matters less than yours?"

"This is seriously sick," Ravi says as he adjusts his slipping birthday boy hat back onto his head, warmed by both the alcohol he was he was drinking and the company he was surrounded as he tried to make twenty-seven to twenty-eight a graceful transition.
( He only remembers fragments of his last birthday. )
"You guys didn't have to do all this for me, though I bet Jas jumped at the chance to get a mic in her hands and start roasting me."
