okay well I've never heard of solangez before but now I'm obsessed with it. Do you have any headcanons on how they got together bc I really dig this
(sorry this is so late,, life gets ya, ya know?)
oh man I gotta think about this now because it’s been ages since I thought about them since it’s only like me and one or two other people out here in this little canoe… I’ll see what I can come up with here
So I definitely think they don’t get together right away. In fact, I’d say it’s probably a couple years down the line before they even really like, consider it. Nico takes his time working through his own feelings and becoming secure in his identity lmao toa whomst before he even acts on his feelings for Will.
All the while Leo is off doing whatever it is he’s been doing and realizing that what he has with Calypso just… isn’t working. He tries to make it work. They both do. But at the end of the day, they realize that whatever spark they’d been trying to preserve just isn’t there. They part amicably and stay friends (and realize the true power of love that broke Calypso’s curse was platonic love, go figure) and Leo starts living at camp full time, where he starts spending more time with Nico, given that he was also an Argo II veteran and Piper and everyone else he knew is off in California or wherever. They’re about the same age, have a lot of shared or similar life experiences, and they hit it off real well. They’re both total nerds and Nico feels like he can let his nerd guard down around Leo without being judged, and Leo’s happy he can make Nico laugh because it makes him laugh too.
As for Will, I feel like he’s just so enamored with Nico but he’s totally content being his friend. Even if they never get together, Will would be happy. They do end up together, of course, and Will is just like ??? this awesome dude wants to date me???? He’s supportive and helps coax Nico out of his shell a bit, can dish out the snark and banter as well as take it. Which is why he gets along so well with Leo. Oh boy, does he get along with Leo. Aside from the snark, they’re both super creative, and Will’s biological knowledge combined with Leo’s animatronic capabilities means that Festus’ upgrades keep making him more and more lifelike. So it ends up with Nico and Will dating, and Leo being like their best friend, and for once, he doesn’t feel like a third wheel? They include him in everything, never make him uncomfortable when they get mushy with each other (Nico isn’t big on PDA anyway), and the three of them have sleepovers in the Hades Cabin and Bunker 9 on a weekly basis.
From there, things just kind of... happen. Nico starts to realize he really loves spending time with Leo, like, as much as he does with Will. Leo loves how caring Will is, and how he can be so kind but not coddling. They’re always around each other, and the lines between relationships become a little blurred. Leo’s known for a while he likes guys, even if he hasn’t really acted on it (strange, that flirty Leo hasn’t been flirting lately...), and both he and Will are comfortable in their identities. They never really thought about dating multiple people at once, but neither of them are against it. Nico... has more trouble with it. He’s struggled a lot in the past in regards to his sexuality, and he’s comfortable with it now. But dating more than one person at one time? Was that... even a thing???
They’re in Bunker 9 for one of their weekly sleepovers. Nico is curled against Will’s side, their fingers laced together and almost smushed between them. Leo draped dramatically across both their laps. Surprisingly, Nico is the one to bring it up. He tries to hide it behind the excuse of just trying to better understand modern attitudes towards those things, but it isn’t like Will and Leo hadn’t been thinking about it too... They’re all kind of squirming a bit, talking about how it definitely happens, how important communication is especially in those kinds of relationships... “It sounds... kinda nice,” Leo says. He feels Will’s arm lay across his side and grab his hand, and the way Nico’s hands settle hesitantly in his hair.
