Mask of My Own Face
Finally remembered to upload this sweet Mercury commish @hikikomori-route did for me!
A little late, but I have questions about Mercury.
If there was another species that lived in our solar system, either before us or somewhere we don't know, would she tell us?
To what extent does she believe in the Great Ones? Either way, is she superstitious about them?
Finally, out of the media broadcasts she has picked up from Earth, which genre does she like and dislike the most?
No worries! I appreciate asks ^^
1.) I think she would indeed tell us, since she understands our desire to know more about the "home" we share. Although, I think it's important to note that what she can tell us is limited to her own memory and awareness: if the Caedes System is any indication, planetary systems can hold many potential vessels. Since ours seems to be unoccupied (barring Mercury and occasional guests), it would be like living in an entire city by yourself.
Sure, there's lots of places you can explore and visit, but you're only one person: there could be a small community living in a building on the opposite side of the city, and you'd never know, because you rarely go there in the first place. So, even though Mercury is much more familiar with the Solar System than we are, it can still hold secrets and mysteries.
2.) I'm not quite sure what Mercury's beliefs about the Great Ones would be; since she's quite isolated from other Celestial cultures, I don't think she'd have a proper "religion." That being said, visitors do bring their ideas- pantheons, rituals, etc., so I think she'd have good reason to believe that higher beings exist (and the kind of cautions one should exercise therein).
3.) Much like her mythological namesake, I like to think she has a playful, "trickster" streak- giving her an affinity for the absurd and silly, so she gravitates towards more light-hearted pieces of media. Internet humor is a relatively recent phenomenon, but it's one of her favorites, for just how much "ammo" it gives her, particularly when interacting with overly serious, humorless types- they make for the most baffled recipients. Though obviously she does this with a lot of discretion; so, not at the expense of being offensive or provoking violence.
On the flip side, she wouldn't like overly cynical or mean-spirited media. She also shies away from pieces that seem to glorify things like war, hierarchies/social Darwinism, etc. Essentially, these things go against her personal values: she's seen the kinds of undue suffering these things create- countless times. The other part is that Mercury chafes under excessive conformity and order.
Her world is a lonely one, but it is free.

A day late (Day 9: Space Adventure), but better late than never!
So yeah- saw the prompt and I just had to do it with Mercury (an OC of mine for a space-themed analog horror series)! Definitely would like to be friends with her ^^
