@solar-born liked [this post] for a starter !
Veles was bound to bite off more than she could chew at some point or another--and she finally had. Following a lead she was sure would be a dead-end about some interesting Vex in a cavern (rumor has it they looked the same as those from the Future Gate in the Vault of Glass), only to find it hadn’t been one. Save for the fact their frames were motionless, cores dead for all she knew, and a Blight had come down on her the second she used her Light to start investigating.
Typically, a few Taken and their big orbs of tomfoolery were simple enough to deal with. Knock out the Blight, the Taken stop coming--but as soon as she got one Blight taken down, two more would spawn. Psions splitting faster than she could kill them, Centurion darts making constant movement a must, and Boss was blaring an emergency distress signal to any Guardians close enough to provide backup.
[ If there are any Guardians in the area, we need immediate backup. I repeat, we need immediate backup. We have a rapidly evolving Blight situation on our hands. Coordinates are encrypted in this broadcast. Hurry. ]
She didn’t like the twinge of fearful desperation in her Ghost’s static filled voice--Veles pushed harder. A tether, grenade, another tether--bullet spray--noxious smoke. Another group eliminated, another Blight swept from her plane of existence, and even more popping up to replace them. It was not a matter of skill, Veles could keep this up for as long as she had to, keep the Taken at bay and stay alive. But this was not a solo endeavor--she simply couldn’t wipe it out on her own and her ammo supplies would, eventually, run out.
“C’mon, someone’s gotta be around.” Hissed between clenched teeth and tightened jaw, diving behind a moss covered boulder and taking advantage of her few seconds reprieve to shove her helmet back on. If Veles’d been wearing it in the first place, she might’ve known what was coming over her HUD--hindsight is always 20/20.
