Tidalpunk was recognized by some thought leaders in the #SolarpunkChat on Twitter a couple days ago, including @debmerriam and @upperrubberboot!
To me, tidalpunk is any aquatic portion of solarpunk, but thatâs not to say it canât stand out on its own. The Carbon Coast novel features a tidalpunk setting for about a third of the novel! Itâs very exciting to be writing about sustainable floating cities, pacific islands, solar-powered coastlines, and more. But of course, thereâs always the threat of powerful storms...

Solarpunk Twitter Chat
3rd Saturday of every month, Noon Eastern USA
11am CST / 10am MST / 9am PST
5pm GMT / 6pm CETÂ Â
6pm WAT / 7pm CAT
Letâs talk about #ecopunk #reading #ecospeculation #books #solarpunk #climatechange -- use #solarpunkchat!
Hi everyone! On behalf of the organizing team (Upper Rubber Boot Books, Reckoning Press, and World Weaver Press), hereâs some information about upcoming dates for the #solarpunkchat over on Twitter.Â
20 Oct. 2018: Commando Jugendstil and Tales From The EV Studio will lead a conversation about cooperatives and collaborations in the context of solarpunk. (Check out the fruit of their collaboration in Glass and Gardens: Solarpunk Summers.)
17 Nov. 2018: Sarena Ulibarri will guide us through some winter solarpunk world-building and brainstorming. If your writing or art project has a cold-climate or rainy-season setting, you wonât want to miss the fun.
Join other writers, activists, artists and readers to discuss the overlapping ideas and ideals of solarpunk, hopepunk, ecopunk, eco-futurism, eco-fiction, and climate fiction.Â
The solarpunk chat was a bit brutal after the People's March for the Vote on Saturday, but the discussion was really nice.
Thanks to @thecarboncoast and @debmerriam for partecipating. Please extend the thanks to any other denizens of solarpunk tumblr you know.
Here are my contributions to this monthâs #solarpunkchat on Twitter, you can find lots more by searching that tag on Twitter. People added a lot of really great insight!
Next one: 17 March 2018!
