Surprise! (Matt the Radar Technician)

here’s a prickle of surprise at the back of val’s neck to see matt at her door ( most have been avoiding her like a plague ), but she opens it the rest of the way regardless, motioning him in with her head. “what brings you? and if you’re willing – eat ice cream with me.”

“And what do I owe the pleasure?” His presence surprised her, and dare she say she almost felt a little happy to see him. She couldn’t care less about him at the moment — or that’s what she told herself —but at least she didn’t have to spend the day alone in her room, sulking over lost loves. She’d stand her ground though, make him suffer for about. Hopefully not enough to banish him. “You can come in, if you want. But I’ll be having company soon, so make it quick.” Jean shrugged, stepping aside to let him in.
