Fixing ‘My USB Hub 3.0 Mini Portable’ using my soldering tools (w/ my Paper Dolls) [Oct. 24, 2020]
Hi, it is time to fix my USB Hub 3.0 Mini Portable!😁🔧 Using my Soldering tools I have among other existing items I need, this is actually my first time doing solo. The last one was being helped by my dad, so now I’ll do on my own. 😉 And of course my Paper dolls right here to keep myself company.
If you don’t see my recorded video, then please [CLICK ME!].
BTW: Some of my photo(s) are now combined into one photo using my current drawing/art software GIMP 2.10.20.
So without further ado, let’s get started:
1st to 4th Image(s): • Now as I said before, these are the soldering tools that I already use it from fixing the universal AC adapter/charger back in September of this year. With the inclusion of the rag (for wiping off the solder) and not the Glue Gun, but now I’ll be using it for this topic. Although I haven’t shown ya in the first place so here it is. 🙂
• The ff. tools I needed (with links if you want to check it out from Lazada Philippines): ◘ Baoling Electric Soldering Iron - 30 watt variant w/ free solder lead wire [CLICK ME!] (I got this for ₱119 during big sale) ◘ Panther Soldering Iron Stand Spring Metal [CLICK ME!] (I got this for ₱99, plus I used my free Shipping Voucher) ◘ SUNSHINE ZJ-18 Soldering Flux Paste - 150g [CLICK ME!] (I got this for ₱58.20) ◘ And finally two items from home: Glue Gun (for a permanent stick place) and a rug (for wiping off the solder)
•The recent item that I purchased is the Soldering Iron Stand, which is very cool and promising for placing my 30 watt soldering iron. My paper dolls said that it looks impressive, I agree.☺️
5th to 8th Image(s): • [5th Image] Alright, time to reveal of my USB Hub’s problem!🙂 •[6th & 7th Images combined] Ahh just as I expected! I knew that I’m gonna bring my soldering tools, it seems the solder from the circuitry board and the USB metal conductor are snapped. So that’s why I did not worked well. 😯 •[8th Image] My paper dolls saw the problem. Hope you could stand back a little, because I’m attempt to use my soldering iron and lead to solve this problem.
9th & 10th Image(s): • Here’s my first soldered through the disconnecting metal conductor. My Paper dolls seems impress my working process.☺️
11th Image: • So now I’m soldering all the disconnected part, rest it for couple of minutes to cool off before I tested out by connecting through laptop. 💻 • But unfortunately, I went wrong too much... So very wrong...😟 You see, once I connected with my repaired USB Hub it pops up the ⚡‘Power Surge on Hub Port’⚡ every time, and it requires to reset the USB hub. Problem-wise I also restart the laptop, in case that I ignore the pop-up power surge warning. So what’s the cause of being power surge problem with my repaired USB Hub? Well I soldering too much lead on the metal conductor, but not just that but also the board itself (well a bit). ☹️
Overall: • I’m... Unsatisfied my repair process. 😟And my lesson learn was, don’t apply too much soldering lead...😞 Although, I felt myself something missing in my soldering tools collection. So what was it? A “Desoldering pump”, if you don’t know what it looks like then please [CLICK ME!]. Hmmm I will get that someday... But nevertheless, It seems that I’m okay without using my USB Hub; even if I attempt to fix it and failed, it’s all good and to that I learn from that mistake. Also my paper dolls understands my mistake, so they forgive me, thank you.😊 And speaking of, I just found a better USB Hub with better material used, circuitry board and quality that I have. I will show ya but that’s gonna be very soon, and so I have two items on my wish-lists.🙂✍️📋 As for my old USB Hub, I’ll stored in a plastic package that where it should be and it’s officially dead...✝️
Anyways that’s the end of my topic. If you want to see my review about that, then I’ll provide some links down below.↓😉
