     There was a crack. Stumbling away from the walker as he tried to reload, his leg suddenly crumbled as the foot of his brace broke loose. He fell back, giving a yell of terror as he realized: He broke his brace! Pushing himself back the best he could with his good leg, he tried to get the bullet into his gun, hands shaking. This would have happened eventually. He knew it would. It would break at an inopportune moment he was going to die!
