To the space and beyond

_en This article is about my greatest and most favorite grails. It should have been written two year ago, but I took the L back then, so I was waiting patiently until the beginning of this year. Therefore I apologize for the lack of topicality, but my respect towards this collaboration would not let me leave it without devoting an adequate piece of text to it.

Sole Classics is one of the most crucial stores in the US based outside NYC or LA. It's situated in Columbus, Ohio and celebrated 10 years of its existence just last year. The owner is Dionte Johnson, a guy from a successful football family who shortly tried the NFL as well. So far, the five collaborative projects between Vans and Sole Classics reflect ''Of The Wall'' perfectly as each product will leave you staring with your mouth open, because all of them are beyond extraordinary.

Columbus is the birth place of modern aviation. The Wright brothers who conducted the first manned flight were born there, Jerrie Mock - the first woman who flew around the world took off and landed in Columbus. Also, with Neil Armstrong - the first man on the Moon among them, 24 astronauts come from Ohio. It is thus him and the rich history of Ohio's aviation that the collaboration of Sole Classics and Vans from the beginning of 2015 pay tribute to.

The Sk8-Hi Reissue Zip LX is set in the same colors as a spacesuit. The rough canvas contrasts with the black laces and gold lace tips that can also be switched for red ones. The foxing is slightly blueish while the sole is translucent so that the OHIO sign pops. It all goes very well with the zipper on the heel with a red tab and the A-S8C sign. There are two (Ohio and US flag) replaceable velcro appliques on the tongue and a classic leather insole typical for the Vault category inside. It is vital to mention the use of the Outlast technology, that keeps the foot in a comfortable temperature regardless the weather. The overall craftsmanship is very precise with a great focus on the detail, the same applies to spacesuits that can never betray an astronaut.

Sole Classics and their Vans collabs are one of my favorites in the collection and I cannot wait what they come up with next year. _cz Tenhle článek je o mých největších a nejoblíbenějších grails a měl vzniknout před dvěma lety. Jenže jsem chytnul L a trpělivě jsem na ně čekal až do začátku letošního roku. Omlouvám se tedy na lehčí neaktuálnost, ale z respektu k téhle kolaboraci jsem si prostě nemohl dovolit to nenapsat.

Sole Classics je jeden ze nejzásadnějších storů v US sídlících mimo NY a LA. Nachází se v Columbusu v Ohiu a v loňském roce oslavil 10 let existence. Majitelem je Dionte Johnson, který pochází z úspěšné fotbalové rodiny a krátce nahlédnul i do NFL. Zatím pět collabs mezi Vans a Sole Classics vystihuje naprosto dokonale „Off The Wall“, protože pokaždé je produkt zcela mimo zaběhnuté normy a zůstanete na něj zírat s otevřenou pusou.

Columbus je místem zrodu moderního letectví. Narodili se tu bratři Wrightové, kteří uskutečnili první pilotovaný let, Jerrie Mock byla první žena, která obletěla svět a vyletěla a přistála samozřejmě v Columbusu. Z Ohia pocházelo 24 astronautů, mimo jiné i první člověk na Měsíci Niel Armstrong. A právě jemu a historii aviatiky v Ohiu vzdává hold spolupráce Sole Classics a Vansu z počátku roku 2015.

Sk8-Hi Reissue Zip LX jsou barevně vyladěny jako skafandr. Hrubý canvas kontrastuje s černými tkaničkami se zlatým kovovým zakončením, které můžete prohodit za červené. Jemně namodralý foxing podrážky, která je průhledná, aby dala vyniknout nápisu OHIO, doplňuje zip na patě s červeným úchytem a nápisem A-8SC. Na jazyku jsou na suchý zip vyměnitelné nášivky Ohio a US flag a uvnitř nás čeká klasická kožená pata vložky, typická pro Vault kategorii. Důležité je zmínit použití Outlast technologie, která udržuje nohu v příjemné teplotě v jakémkoliv počasí. Celkové zpracování je precizní s velkým fokusem na detail stejně, jako je tomu u skafandrů, který astronauta nikdy nesmí zradit.

Sole Classics a jejich Vans collabs se řadí mezi moje favority ve sbírce a jsem zvědavej, s čím přijdou v letošním roce. A pokud máte rádi Vans, dejte follow týpkovi z SC crew, kterej si na IG říká @sundaypizza a má naprosto outstanding kolekci. Příště už si dáme zase nějakej čerstvej release!
