What I’m Reading: August

Re-Reads:

1. My Kingdom for a Kiss (Tonight You’re on My Mind) (leighbot) - Zayn and Louis make a friendly wager and it goes too far, Harry’s a baker with a heart of gold and really great hair, Liam is an overworked PA who just wants to enjoy his holiday and Niall is completely at ease, as always. An accidentally married AU mixed with a splash of modern royalty.

2. Just a Memory (and All that We could have Been) (trustingno1) - Harry wakes up in a reality in which he and Louis are very much together. Which is pretty awesome. Or - it would be. If Harry could remember any of it.

3. It’s Just that It’s Delicate (acciocreativity (condescendingsmirk)) - Harry giggles sleepily and Louis’ heartstrings give a little tug. “Come snuggle, then?” he asks hopefully, blinking up at Louis slowly. He brings a hand up to rub at his tired eyes. “Body heat and all that.”

4. All I Wanna Do (dimpled_halo) - After they decide to break up, Harry and Louis spend the hiatus apart. A year later, the band reunites to start working on their new album.

Fic Recs: Fluff

PART 3

1. Hold My Breath (zarah5) - It’s possible — possible — that his three-week ban from the football pitch makes Louis just a tad antsy. Surely it’s not so bad that it warrants punishment in the form of his friends signing him up for a yoga class? Either way, Louis is determined to hate every second of it.

He didn’t count on a yoga instructor who wears flower-patterned headscarves and smiles like summer won’t end.

2. Shine (togetherwecouldbealright) - Louis is an actor who needs to get away from the real world. He does the only thing that he can and runs away, finding himself in a small town where he happens upon Harry. What Louis doesn’t expect is to somehow fall in love and end up having to face what he was running from all along.

11. Fall Into Your Gravity (zarah5) - In which Harry is an overnight pop sensation and Louis steals plants, Zayn pulls Liam’s proverbial pigtails and Niall’s really just pleased there are more girls for him.

12. Take Off Your Running Shoes (polkadotpeacoat) - Harry is the fit supermarket check out boy. Louis wants to sleep with him. Summer romance ensues.

Fic Rec: Kidfic

Some of my faves:

1. Standing On The Edge Of Forever (ellao) - Harry Styles is a single father, just trying to keep his life organized after losing his husband four years earlier. Between his daughter, Liam's hellion twins, and Sophia throwing him into any romantic tangle she can think of, life gets a little crazy. Of course, everything changes the moment Lo and the twins get interested in their school musical, The Wizard of Oz. Because the new director, Louis Tomlinson, is just about the most attractive man that Harry has ever seen.

2. Jump Before We Fall (green_feelings) - Louis and Zayn's lives revolve around running a hotel by the sea, Harry is a student who wants a life far from home for just a little while, Niall doesn't know where life leads him and Liam thinks he has already found all purposes in his life.

3. Nothing Else But Us Right Here (supernope) - Louis sighs and gives himself a mental pep talk as he smooths his jumper down over his hips. He can do this. He can resist the draw of Harry Styles, because he is a responsible, mature adult, and as much as he wants to tangle his fingers in that mess of hair and map those ridiculous tattoos with his tongue, he does not want to get his daughter’s favorite teacher fired.

4. Fugue (iwillpaintasongforlou) - Harry falls asleep a 17 year-old who lives in Cheshire and is probably rockstar Louis Tomlinson's biggest fan. He wakes up 24 with a wedding ring on his finger, two kids, and Louis Tomlinson attempting to wake him up with a blow job. The doctor calls it organic retrograde amnesia, says he might never get back the last seven years of his life. The only thing that feels the same is how he feels when Louis touches him, and maybe that's enough to make him fall in love all over again.

5. All The Lights Are Full Of Colour (infinitelymint) - Harry and Louis are separated, but for the sake of their two sons, they choose to spend Christmas together. It may just lead to a Christmas miracle.

10. If My Heart Was A Compass, You’d Be North (cheekiestcheeky, heartsoftlouis) - Louis likes to think he’s not clumsy, but he suspects he’ll have to accept it when he falls face first into a relationship with a head full of curls and his tiny human.

11. Wrapped In Light, In Life, In Love (tomorrows) - Of all the things to happen while taking care of his niece for a month, falling in love with his boyhood crush all over again is probably the highlight of Harry’s autumn. Well. That, and getting pregnant.

2. Want You More Than A (thecellardoor) - Falling in love with your step-brother’s best friend is a disaster enough. When he happens to be the boy everyone loves and you’re a nerd who wears sweater vests and cries during rom-coms, it takes it to a whole new level.

3. A Thousand Miles From Comfort (littlelouishiccups) - In which Louis is a closeted gay actor and a recovering addict with a troubled past. Harry is the personal trainer who helps him get his life back in shape.

4. Three French Hems (100percentsassy, gloria_andrews) - In which Louis is a designer at Burberry and Harry spends December wearing Lanvin… and Lanvin… and Lanvin.

5. Teenage Dreams In A Teenage Circus (orphan_account) - The three of them have always been a unit, seamlessly pulling pranks to get revenge and keep life interesting. The last few months of sixth form bring about a lot of changes, however. Gemma refuses to let anything stop her from getting into her top-pick uni, Perrie second-guesses what makes her special, and Louis breaks the most common of friend codes: he falls for his best mate's little brother. A coming-of-age tale rife with sneaking around, late-night vandalism, first times, successes, and jealousy.

6. Sweet To The Soul, Health To The Bones (wildhalos) - Someone keeps declaring their love on the brick wall outside Louis’s office window. It's possible Louis should be concerned, but the romantic in him would like to believe a stalker would use something slightly more vicious than chalk and pretty words.

7. Pretty Boy (iwillpaintasongforlou) - Harry's been forced into a high-class prostitution ring because his heroin-addicted mother is too strung out to realize that her boyfriend is pimping out her son. Louis is the crown prince of England and gets into a lot of mischief and thinks it's normal to pay prostitutes to "get a good night's sleep." They probably aren't meant to see each other beyond that one random night, but then again, they probably aren't meant to see each other at all.

8. You Are My Favorite Place (soleilouis) - Harry meets Louis at a basketball game. He doesn’t know why everyone seems to think that they’re an item (aside from, maybe, the hundred paparazzi photos of them that come out the next morning).

9. Never Known The Likes Of This (acavall) - Louis trains seals at the zoo for a living. Harry falls into his seal pool and takes it in his stride.

10. Another Hazy May (delilah) - Louis is a terrible poet and Harry lives in the now and they have six weeks to fall in love but, really, it only takes six seconds. Bookshop meets military meets summer romance AU ft. Marlboros, the Backstreet Boys, and underrated literary devices.

11. We Made These Memories For Ourselves (supernope) - Louis is a footballer, Harry owns a bakery, and they're having a baby.

12. Even When The Summer’s Passing By (honestlylemmejust) - It’s summer and Harry’s bright idea is to get his friends together to hunt for bigfoot, and Louis tries not to find it hopelessly endearing.
