What the fuck is happening! was not the most DIGNIFIED way of summarising things, but Alys thought it was pretty accurate, given the circumstances. The said circumstances, of course, having seen one’s supposed-dead childhood friend in one’s doorway, that was. Still, she could have phased it better, she supposed. With something like — “Holy mother of God, you’re alive!” Or something else more flattering. Robert’s facial expression told her that he didn’t exactly MIND her exclamation... but she still could have handled it better. Not just the ‘greeting,’ but also the entire arrival. Perhaps she should have HUGGED him or... something. She certainly would have done so, if his appearance did not frighten her so much. It took an embarrassingly long time before she could muster up the words, “Come in.”
