10 year old child suffered a cardiac arrest, emergency services were called. No ambulances available in the area, had to send another from the adjacent area. Took 30 minutes before one arrived at the scene, another 30 minutes for her to arrive at Umeå hospital via helicopter.

Tomorrow a manifestation is on for the proposed dismantling of the local hospital, following the dismantled Maternity Ward in 2017 (the very same maternity ward that was of such high quality and national renown people moved across the country to give birth here) - and there have been over 16,000 signators on a petition to reverse this decision from the provincial government - for reasons "there is no foundation for keeping the hospital running".

It has been up since the 1960's. This city have had a hospital since the 1870's. People have to not drive 30 minutes to get emergency medical care, but instead up to 2 hours, all to save 40 million Swedish kronor in the budget, less than 0.4% of the provincial budget.

Doctors and nurses from the adjacent hospitals have protested this move, because they are overburdened already as is.

Grey is 90 minutes, purple is 60 minutes, brown is 30 minutes of expected travel time to a hospital based on 2014 projections before emergency services were being shut down - and the city of Sollefteå is indeed the one in the middle.
