To all it may concern: The first draft for “Princess of Dawn” is done.

Took me a year and a half, 2000 hours of listening to the aucustic version of Titanium on repeat and 2 BILLION hours of listening to sound of silence on repeat (slight exaggeration, I have listened to other things sometimes) and it’s been grand (and there’s been a good bit of suffering and self doubt about it, no writer is free from that)

Now I just gotta edit it  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ sorry for being really vacant on this here site, but this is the reason, mostly. And the ever-present uni, let’s not forget

funny enough, that’s the one I got asked on twice over; guess it’s the obvious-but-not-too obvious pick, eh? (for this meme)

What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her.

Luthier has much of the same going for him as Delthea, although not all of it; he’s also a hilarious, well-executed character, although perhaps lacking the immediate splash in his qualities, and definitely lacking some of the extended characterization his sister was treated to.

he is, obviously, the other half of the stellar sibling relationship I’ve just spent half a long post gushing about; beyond that, his scholarly-spoken awkwardness gives him a solid and appealing (at least, hilarious) character. unfortunately, it also seems to have restricted him somewhat; with little more to keep moving him forward other than his base convos and his one support chain, he ends up being a little more static, although still enjoyable for what he is.

Is he/she important to the general plot?

same as Delthea, he isn’t really – besides also having a connection to an important aspect of the world – but that’s not necessarily the stuff FE characters are made of.

he does get one spot in the main cutscenes – as the outside element, insesnitive to Alm’s insecurities, who ends up getting to be the one to break it to him that he doesn’t get to be supreme leader of the liberation army and then never have anything expected of him again.

I suppose that he and Delthea also set Alm up for more of his conflicts with Clive, but that much… wasn’t all that well written, in my opinion

Can you relate to this character at all? Does he/she grip you emotionally?

a stiff and intimidating way of talking, difficulties making friends, nerd… nope, I have nothing in common with him at all-

Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by his/her relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)

does anyone? it’s not as if I’ve been looking around, but I’ve never ever seen shippy content for him – and not for a lack of people in the cast who are around his age! there’s even quite a few he could possibly get along with if the ice were broken somehow, but I don’t suppose that the thought’s been on anyone’s minds

similar to Delthea, he does seem to have better romantic prospects out of his postgame life – up to and including what may or may not be living proof that he actually got laid at some point-

Is there anything about the character you would change?

at least one more support chain, please! if not to give him a friend, at least to get him to talk more, maybe say some things about the craft he’s so passionate about

If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how would you see yourself interacting with him/her?

Luthier sounds like he’d have quite a few things in common with me on how he engages fandom – for good and for bad. we’d get along, yeah, but I’d end up having to keep him out of trouble

Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?

he falls pretty far from “all time favorites”, but I suppose that hitting #11 out of the Valentia cast in my sorter hell isn’t half-bad; he’s not exactly, ahem, low-tier. (although I like calling him that when he’s causing me gameplay problems)

Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about this character (if you dislike) to someone new to fandom?

that’d have to come up sooner or later while I’m hyping up Delthea, huh?

Is this character popular with the fanbase?

he’s a breakout character like his sister, but I think she got the lion’s share of the attention, and not for no good reason (although there are also bad reasons……. to say the least). and I definitely feel like the fandom tends to give him the same pidgeonhole as canon does – I’ve never seen folks think about more of him to explore than him with Delthea, him with cats, or him making Alm uncomfortable-

Minerva reached up, tired fingers scrabbling at the velcro strap on the back of her helmet, which she promptly removed and dropped to the gym floor with a thud. She grinned, a curious blend of approval and surprise crossing her face as she wiped her messy, damp bangs from her eyes.

Her opponent lifted her own mask, revealing a smug smile underneath a neat green ponytail tied back with a white bandanna, a smile that grinned all the wider as she spoke: “I believe that means you owe me dinner, coach.”

i got her too and I'm soo happy for it. Flier Emblem is my preferred team since New Year Azura, and with summer corrin it's the best ahh

I have a half-flier emblem team (Minerva and S!Corrin just buff each other and hang out all the time) since I haven’t gotten around to making a full flier team

For the brutally honest ship-opinions if you still do them: Matthew/Serra (FE7)

I’ve never cared for this pairing for the same reason I’ve never liked Serra/Erk. The whole of their relationship is: she’s dreadfully annoying but he puts up with her bullshit anyway (and like occasionally they bitch about things together)! It doesn’t sit well with me. The thing that makes Matthew/Serra a little worse in my mind, though, is that Matthew had someone he wanted to marry--was ready to settle down with, was prepared to propose to--and to just replace Leila with Serra, especially without really thoughtful, awesome in-game (out of supports) dialogue to supplement feels Bad.

It’s been a while since I read their supports, but I didn’t feel like either of them really grew as people within the content given us. Like, Hector’s conversations with Serra don’t end in marriage but at least we get a glimpse of them both showing sides of themselves we don’t see very often in other supports (Serra being vulnerable, Hector being understanding and, like, strangely compassionate). I don’t really ship the two of them, but I feel like for me to really like a Fire Emblem pairing I have to see the interaction between the two characters involved bringing out something better (or at least different).
