Manna | late 30s | writer ⢠Literary focus on Identity ⢠Blorbo Enjoyer & Internet Olde ⢠Putting Characters In Situations Since Y2K ⢠That Horse Girl You Knew In Middle School
Hello, I'm Manna! I'm in my late 30s, married, and I have many elderly cats. I'm a writer whose main literary focus is Identity, which you can see reflected in my work. Comments are, as always, both inspirational and appreciated.
I'm always happy to talk about my fics or things I enjoy, so feel free to message me or send asks my way!
not every mutual fits neatly into an archetypal medievalism but there are some mutuals that im like yeah addressing you as āmy liegeā would come strangely naturally
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
Stormy landscape; rays of sunlight breaking through clouds and falling on lake and green meadow, hills beyond - Penry Williams - c.1855-1885 - via The British Museum
No notes for this chapter because 1) I don't really have anything to say as it is a shorter chapter and everything in it is self-explanatory, but also 2) now that I am over 500,000 words into the story, and just a few chapters away from the end, I would prefer to spend those extra hours working on the story itself rather than unnecessary notes.
i am kind of behind on replying to comments again but i promise i will catch up uhhhh as soon as i have time. i'm getting closer to the end of the story and while i do love replying i want to prioritize writing while and when i am able!
(i have an ultrasound june 3 and obviously depending on what they find i might have to make some tough choices but if i hurry i could legitimately be almost done with the story by then!)
I love fanfiction because sometimes The Character needs to be held gently and sometimes they need to be beaten to death with a club. and you 𫵠can make both of those happen. for free
Notes and behind-the-scenes stuff under the readmore:
HORSE CHAPTER!
This is for all my horse girls and guys. And all the sentimental readers, too, while Iām at it.
When am I not referencing Black Beauty (the book, but also the 1994 film, starring Docs Keepinā Time, which is the only good film version ever made)? One of my favorite parts of the story is when Black Beauty is bought again at the end. In the film, itās his former groom, Joe Green, that recognizes him and buys himābut in the book, itās Farmer Thoroughgood and his grandson that buy him to āmake him young again.ā When he is healed, he is given to three ladies on a trial basis to see if they like him; his groom there is Joe Green, who recognizes him by his markings and thus he finds his happy ending.
They end up buying another fine carriage because they donāt really have a good backup for the main carriage if something happens to it, and Mr. Campbell usually opts for a closed carriage rather than an open one, because he dresses well and does not wish to get dirty/covered with dust.
Open carriages are nice for like, a lazy Sunday drive, but the Campbells donāt tend to indulge in such things, and when Mr. Campbell is going somewhere, itās for the purpose of business.
Of course Oscar isnāt going to assume that this horse who looks like Scarlet is Scarlet, but when she finds out, she mirrors the goodbye she gave her when she left Canterbury, but this time as a hello. <3

Oscar unpacking the cats means that she has accepted this place as home. Iām sure you all understood that, but just in case. <3

Oscar finally gets to ride a horse and she looks beautiful doing it. š„ŗ

Thank you all for joining me on this horse-filled chapter journey! I hope to see you again next week. š
Doing a final project in my stats class, we have to pick a subject and collect data on it. We need at least 100 data points, and I figured this blog is big enough that a poll on here could get to that pretty easily!
Doing my project on if itās more likely to be born in certain months :]
I have gotten the OK from my teacher to collect data using a Tumblr poll, btw. Iām also going to have to send her this post as proof of where I got the data from / proof I didnāt just make up the numbers. So. Behave
