Ever since the city had fallen into chaos and he'd lost contact with Eiden, Veoc had chosen the slow way to track him down—mostly because anything too flashy seemed to exhibit a non-reversible drain on his abilities. Focusing on the info in the holographic screen Syren sent him, it seemed the group of suspicious figures were located right around the corner of the next building.

He reaches into his holster for his gun, priming it to shoot as Syren feeds real-time updates into his eye and ears. As they approach, Veoc steps off the hoverboard, readies himself to shoot, and rounds the corner—
