wait where did the f!matt signing come from? also imagine: f!tom mixing up some basic signs when he first learns it and when he repeats back what f!matt signed in confusion, f!matt having a good ol chuckle or smth. I also like the idea of tom trying to sign in conversation with f!matt sometimes just bc and they'll sign the silliest (or sickeningly sweet) stuff at each other!! good interactions between them involving sign language is my life source

edd rarely cries, but since all of this has started happening, he's started to cry along with tom. matt is confused and lost and feels so far away from one of his dads, it almost feels as if he's not there anymore. it scares him, way more than any monster ever could. he feels stuck between all of this, and guilt strikes him every time tom is having a hallucination, especially when he calls out to the hallucination. matt feels like it's his fault

okok so it all has to do with hallucination matt. adding on to the tom mood changes let's say he gets quieter and jumpier, and he's scared of interaction. matt and edd have to tread on eggshells when talking or even being near him because the smallest things have the chance of getting him off (either scaring him or making him lash out, another possibility). he also seems a bit more jerky and rushed in his actions as time passes, and touch altogether freaks him out super badly. he'll start (1/2)

bawling on the spot and kind of huddle into himself. these days he expects the pop ins and he’s set a schedule for around those times. h!matt pops up, deals with him for however long he stays, calm down for an hour or so and play susan, eat, and then sleep. sometimes h!matt will plague his dreams, he can’t get any good sleep anymore. he has to sleep near matt to peacefully sleep, and edd is an added bonus. edd and matt become emotionally drained because of it all sooner or later (2/2)

let's say the hallucinations become worse and more frequent as well, and edd doesn't know what to do until it's over. tom lives in constant fear of seeing hallucination matt pop out of nowhere and torture him, play with his emotions. edd begs with tears in his eyes as the hallucinations get longer and longer to go see a professional but tom flat out refuses. the hallucinations are somewhat comforting now, and he's fallen almost into a schedule. edd and matt are terrified with toms change in mood
