I tried messing around with my process a little. It's just an excuse to see Solui again.

The awakened portraits in my local gacha game are pretty rad. So I tried that coloring style on Solui. It's deceptively simple but it makes characters look cool and I wanted to figure out how.

Sea breeze, waves on the coast, palm trees swaying. The Algaeveil Guard gives a reassuring wave.

The problem: Wrath was too busy drawing funny cat and mouse fan art to draw his OCs.

The solution: Get them to draw themselves.

Results varied greatly.

I’ve reached the part where I started posting full things of my original characters, so I decided to share some early drafts of them as well! Here’s a sneak peek. More under the cut to not clog up your dashboards.

I didn’t write dates on them but I think most of them are from 2019.

The first “finished” thing I made which wasn’t even really intended- I wanted to put a set of expressions in the reference sheet but ultimately ended up not doing so.
