・・・ #Repost thx to @bodywelltherapies ・・・ What started it all. .. The greater omentum. Basically, a blanket of fat cells that lay over top of your digestive organs, it houses the transverse colon and is full of blood and lymphatic vessels which make it a great contributor to your immune system. .. . A quick search, reveals that the #greateromentum has been known to isolate and limit infection by wrapping around areas of concern like a blanket. How cool is that? .. . When peering into the abdominal space in the lab, we find the greater omentum doing all kinds of interesting things. In some, it’s dense and heavy. In others, it’s as delicate as a doily. It can be found just hanging out looking cool or, all bunched up somewhere, pointing out some pathology. .. . This, my friends, is what inspired me to spend hundreds of hours in the lab throughout the years.... sometimes I wonder what my greater omentum is up to while I’m riding my bike. 🧐 . . 📸1906 edition of Sobotta’s Atlas and Text-book of Human Anatomy. . . #beobsessedorbeaverage #anatomynerd #somanaut #bodywelltherapies #dissection #visceralfat #abdomen https://www.instagram.com/p/BvtwBYJHBtM/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=g7983e3rwq0k
