         This week’s assignment was definitely a tough one. As much as her instructor continued to encourage her, Violet still finds it difficult to come up with the practical uses of her lessons. With a exhausted sigh and a quick glance at the clock -- 11:59 PM, she reluctantly clicks submit. Maybe she wasn’t feeling the assignment or maybe it was a lack of motivation.... still, she feels the need to apologize. So she opens up her email and begins typing.

Dear SOMBRA @empactivating​,          I’ve submitted this week’s assignment earlier today. I had a little trouble with it, so I give you full permission to furiously comment all over my code. Again, thank you for your patience and willingness to teach me. I hope to hear from you soon.

     Interesting people are in no short supply in a place like Isola. Human needs to categorize and separate the wards have no bearing on a bird like Davesprite, which is just the long worded way to say he’s lost. The crow spends no time hopping around on the ground like an imbecile, preferring to spend his time flying around and out of sight of most people.

     Gang leaders with knowledge derived of cool hacking skills, for example, are pretty damn high on omniscient crows list of interesting people. So down he goes, into the dark alleys where the only light is fluorescent paint and the soft, barely noticeable orange of his own feathers. Here, in the dark, a quiet corvid finds what he’s searching for; not food, for once, but someone capable of a coherent thought.

     He speaks, flat and clearly non-human, perched on a nearby windowsill, a joke at first, “Hey. Polly wants a cracker.” Here in the shadows, it’s easy to make out his orange visage, like a miniature sun.

What an interesting predicament this was. To be pulled into an experiment run by some mediocre scientists... Maybe she could get along with them in the future. But for now, they’d disrespected her. She’d been given a hut to live in, and her powers were significantly cut back from what they were at home. Only three uses a day for her enhanced movement? Ridiculous. They must have thought so little of her.

Gritting her teeth, she stewed in her anger for a moment before something caught her eye---or rather, someone. Perfect. Perhaps she could use this to her advantage.

If she didn’t have an abode suited for a lab, maybe she did.

Making good use of one of the three times a day she could use it, she let herself ghost her way over to the other quickly, not caring if her sudden appearance in front of the other scared her.

“Sombra, my favorite hacker,” as if she knew any others.

“Might I ask where you are staying in this fine city? I was thrown in the dumps, and frankly, it was quite rude of them. Perhaps you could host me?”

“Oh. Oh no, I can tolerate random abduction two times around that’s honestly more lenient than actual kidnapping, but I refuse to tolerate this,” she speaks pointedly as she makes rather overexaggerated gestures toward the hacker. “This is like that weird cliched saying that had something to do with being stuck on an island with someone. Can’t say I’m a huge fan of it. My mana is draining here just speaking to you.”

“So you’re offering me a job here?” The last thing he’d expected was to be hired when he walked into what looked like a seemingly normal coffee shop however it’s employees looked a little... interesting.

But... even though he hadn’t been here long, Noctis had already figured out he needed a job. It wasn’t like he hadn’t worked before anyway, at least this was kinda what he was already used to.

“Sure, I guess.” He shrugged nonchalantly. Despite the fact being offered a job off the bat should have been considered a little shady (Ignis would have disapproved) he figured things couldn’t get any worse. He was already stuck here against his will anyway, what else could possibly go wrong?
