Shaking her head, Miri would let out a small, almost bitter laugh.
“Do you think me a fool? Do you think Dev is a fool? Do you seriously believe that Devoner nor I wouldn’t give a second thought to laying down our lives for our children?” Sighing, Miri would gently twirl the bejeweled band on her left ring finger.
“If I ever were to chose my husband over our children...I know Devoner would never forgive me. And I would do the same if the situation were reversed.” She smiled with warm conviction. “My husband knows I love him with all that I am...but I know he would never value his own life over our children’s.”
“So...I suppose the answer would be my children. I don’t see what this proves, to be quite honest.”
